ABOUT DIATOMACEOUS EARTH

What is Diatomite

Diatomite is a powdery mineral composed of the fossilised remains of microscopic single-celled aquatic plants called diatoms. Diatoms can uniquely absorb water-soluble silica to form a highly porous, yet rigid skeletal framework of amorphous silica. Diatomite is light, rigid, exceptionally porous, absorbent and pure.

Nature of Diatomite

Due to the singular structure of the particulates, the raw material is easily reduced to micron sizes without breaking the Diatoms. Each Diatom is hollow inside and has a sifter-like shell. This makes Diatoms the perfect material for filtering, insulation, agricultural soil improver and growing media.

All Shapes and Sizes

There are over 100,000 species of diatoms that we know about on earth. Even samples from the same region may differ. Mes Mining has identified each and every area of the mine in order to be able to provide you with the type you need.
